Beware of it!

A Sufi is on a sea voyage and a king is also on the same boat; he has a servant. One day the sea is very dangerous and it seems that any moment the boat can sink. The servant is in a panic – crying, weeping, shouting ‘Save me!’ and praying to god and almost going mad. The king says to him, “don’t be afraid. I am also here and so many people are here – if we are all going to die, we are all going to die, not only you.” But he is not in a state to listen. The Sufi mystic is listening to the whole thing, watching, and he says, “If you give me a chance I can put him right,” and the king permits “Do anything!”

So the Sufi and his two-three disciples take the man up and throw him into the sea!

Of course he shouts more loudly in the sea:
“Save me! Take me out of it!”

For a few minutes he is left there and then the Sufi and the disciples rescue him and carry him back into the ship; now he is very calm and quiet. He sits very silently, and he is very happy that he has been saved. The king is surprised but the mystic says, “This is a simple application of a general law: People understand the beauty of something only when they have lost it.”

And it is always so that you want true love but whenever you are loved, you don't care for your lover. But when you lose love you want it.

Whenever you watch Shahrukh Khan movies you want your lover to love you like that great romantic lover on screen. Ready to wait for years. You are fascinated with those ideas! And, when you are truly loved in that way by a lover then all simply falls flat. You find it stupid!

When you are not with your lover your heart is simply longing to be together, and when you are together suddenly you see stupidity in it. What is there? All those dreams look childish. Then you want to be alone or you want to be somewhere else. This is the game people are playing; it is not simply one person's game. It is the general game, the game of life.

Whatsoever you have immediately loses meaning; whatsoever you have not becomes meaningful. This is the general rule. Beware of it!

[jo kaha ja sake wo sach kaisa? sach toh humesha unkaha hi rehta hai.]

[ mujhe apne dayire me baandh sake ye shabdo me saamrthya kahan?
main kya hu iska jawab dena mumkin nahi. bas ye keh sakta hu ki main hu]

Sarfaroshi ki tamanna...

This particular poem has been heartbeat of thousands of the patriots. The poem is used in so many movies, shows, serials, lectures and plays, in so many different ways that the actual flow of poem is hard to find.
However, I perceive it as a poem which was sang on the martyrdom of a freedom fighter.

I imagine the scene as follow:

When every one is silent and weeping on the death of a hero, poet is confused (because the martyr's death is supposed to be celebrated, and not wept on).

The poet addresses to the dead hero, and tells him that I am confused for why everyone is silent on the occasion of celebration of you. In stead I feel, you have elevated the level of patriotism in us. Now, even we are ready to die for the country. And, the poet fills others with the enthusiasm and passion for freedom.

Here, I have presented the poem in the format that I love to recite. The language is Hindi, for the emotional attachment and respect to my country. However, I have translated the stanzas in English.

Why no one is talking to each other?

Whoever I see in your function is silent.

Oh martyr, Oh precious jewel of the nation, I am flattered on thee,

For the stories of thy courage are now sang in the gatherings of the enemy.
Desire to cut down our heads (in the service of the country) is now in our hearts.

We are pulled by the attraction of death,

Today the group of lovers is ready to charge on the killer.

When the time will come we shall let you know oh sky (heavens)

What to tell you now of our plans!

Our enemy is ready with weapon in his hands,

And, we are ready with our open chests.

We are prepared to play Holi with our blood if it is question of country,

Desire to cut down our heads (in the service of the country) is now in our hearts.

Hands in which passion flows can not be cut by the sword,

heads that are raised will never hang down on challenge.

The fire that rests in our heart will grow,

Desire to cut down our heads is now in our hearts.

We stepped out of our homes with shroud tied to our heads,

with our lives resting on our palms we take every step ahead

Life is our guest in the party of death.
We desire to cut down our head (for country)
.

Now there are no rubbish thoughts and desires,

Just single wish. To get washed away

.

The killer standing in the place of execution is asking again and again,

"Does someone wishes to die for the country?"

Desire to cut down our heads is now in our hearts.

What is the body, in which blood of passion does not flow?

How will the boat, which rests on the harbor, combat the storms?

Desire to cut down our heads is now in our hearts,

Let us see how much guts does the arms of executioner have!
